rooted remembering

reflections in a diaspora

handwritten and illustrated by valinda chan

rooted remembering: reflections in a diaspora is a handwritten + hand-drawn zine exploring identity, history, and what it means to exist away from a homeland.

Part written, part illustration, part brain dump – this little project came out of processing oral family histories, emotions, and the in-between feelings that come with existing in a diaspora.

Filled with personal reflections, illustrations, and fragmented thoughts in the process of remembering, grieving, reclaiming, and becoming.

Coming soon in late May/June 2026, and will be available in Spanish and English. 12 pages.
